Oats are the variety of grain that thrives especially well in our harsh nature. It’s no wonder, then, that the world’s best and purest oats grow in northern Finland. Their growth is nurtured by short, intense summers whilst long and cold winters repel pests.

Purity throughout the production chain
Oats are naturally gluten-free, but usually there are too many other grains such as wheat, barley and rye in traditionally produced oats to meet the requirements for gluten-free produce.
Kinnusen Mylly will start operations at its oats-only mill in the spring of 2019, with a focus on solving this problem: the mill will become one of the few oat mills in the world to be dedicated exclusively to processing pure oats – and purity will be the key feature of the entire production chain.
Our dedicated pure oats mill houses the reception, processing, packing and storing of our oats. We have our own laboratory and analysis processes for pure oats to ensure a gluten-free production chain. Our gluten-free certification is awarded by an external laboratory partner. The mill will only process gluten-free pure oats grown especially by our audited contract farmers.
This ensures that we can safely produce oats that are suitable for those following special diets, and as many people as possible can enjoy the unique oats grown in northern Finland.
New products to be launched in spring 2019
Kinnusen Mylly’s pure oat products will be available to food manufacturers in spring 2019 under the 65 Oats brand. The name refers to the 65th parallel north, one of the northernmost areas in the world where oats can be grown – the oats that we use in our mill.
The range will include a variety of oat flakes, oat groats and rolled oats. Organic versions will also be available.
